On May 8, 2023, Atreyu brought their, “The Hope Of A Spark Tour” to the Encore in Tucson, AZ. Supporting them on this leg of the tour that is running from April 27 - May 21. 2023 are three solid bands. The first is the Raleigh, NC six-piece band, LYLVC (pronounced Lilac). LYLVC features Alyse Zavala [clean vocals], Oscar Romero [rap vocals], Cam Gillette [keyboard, synth], Kenny Kaval [bass], Seth Morgan [guitar], and Ryan Powell [drums]. Their 2022 independent debut EP, “Perfect Drug” delivers a fiery and futuristic sonic synthesis. Their live performance is very entertaining and high energy while still delivering quality vocals and musicianship. Within Destruction, featuring Rok Rupnik (vocals), Luka Vezzosi (drums), and Howard Fang (guitar), are a three-piece out of Jesenice, Slovenia. Within Destruction had a solid fan base at this performance and really got the circle pit going. Point North featuring Jon Lundin (vocals), Andy Hershey (guitar), and Sage Weeber (drums), is out of Los Angeles, California. Point North went on right before this tour’s headliner and delivered a solid high-energy performance. They currently have a song with The Ghost Inside called “Safe and Sound”, that is currently in heavy rotation on Sirius XM’s Octane channel and had much of the crowd singing along with them. To close out the night was the Yorba Linda, California metalcore band, ATREYU. I have seen these guys many times, especially at festivals, where it is always a good opportunity to meet them. Over the many years, they have always been so humble and friendly with their fans. On top of that, they bring their great sense of humor and love of music to the stage for all to see. You can’t help but smile, laugh, and then jump right into the pit with these guys. Atreyu’s music is so tight….but their jokes are, well, …..if you have seen them live, you know….you know. Lol On this evening, they had a 17-song setlist that featured many of their well-known songs over the years, along with all the songs off their new EP, “The Hope Of A Spark”, and even included a “nice” saxophone cover of the song, “Tequila” by Dan Jacobs. This is a solid tour that you need to catch if you can.
