RAVEN - Live at Encore in Tucson, AZ
November 6, 2021 - Encore / Tucson, AZ
A few nights ago in Glendale, RAVEN had David Ellefson join them on stage to play a couple of classics, "Hell Bent For Leather" and "Seek and Destroy". So, when they rolled into Tucson on Saturday, in support of their METAL CITY TOUR, they were already familiar with the intensity Arizona metal fans bring to live shows. RAVEN was ready to match that intensity and bring their highly energized live show to the Encore!
From beginning to end, it was a full on assault both visually and musically. They opened the night with Take Control from their All For One release. It was the perfect opening song, because that is exactly what they did! They took control and showed how they are all for one as a band. This is a solid lineup with the founding Gallagher brothers John (vocals/bass) and Mark (guitar) along with Mike Heller (Fear Factory / Malignancy) on drums. They continued blasting through their set with barely any breaks for the crowd to catch their breath. This set included some new songs off their latest release titled METAL CITY along with many classics that spanned their 45+ year career.
Here is RAVEN’s set list for the evening : Take Control, Hell Patrol, Mind Over Metal, The Power, Top of the Mountain, Rock Until You Drop, Faster Than the Speed of Light, Tyrant of the Airways, Metal City, Extract the Action, On and On, Break the Chain, Seek and Destroy, and Wiped Out. They did also include a guitar solo after Rock Until You Drop and a bass solo after On and On.
After the show, I did have a chance to talk to Mark briefly. He was still so full of energy and excitement. We talked a little about the tour, a little about some of my favorite old classics from them, and the one thing that filled him with pride and excitement...RAVEN are working on a new album and hope to bring it to us in 2022! They are currently about half way through their current leg of the tour, but do say they will be adding many more dates. Be sure not to sleep on this tour and catch them when they hit your city!
