I won't lie. Going into the show, I was skeptical of how I was going to feel about Thy Art Is Murder replacing CJ McMahon with Tyler Miller. But before the band even took the stage, I knew I was going to be satisfied with the band's lineup change. Tyler was walking through the crowd, talking to fans, and watching all of the other bands before his set. To me, that speaks volumes to his character. Once they took the stage, I was pleasantly surprised. Tyler's stage presence and vocals brought the music to life, breathing new energy and intensity into some of the most powerful music in deathcore today.
I am probably biased, but damn did Angelmaker kill it. Sure, they are one of my favorite bands; however, the ferocity which with they play is uncanny. Having dual vocalists with elaborate vocal patterns enhances their sound, creating a symphony of growls, screams, and gutturals. The brutality of their music compounded by poetic lyrics Produces a result that is the epitome of Deathcore. Ending the night with Leech, Angelmaker had the entire building moving, the crowd filled with finger-pointing and old-school dog piles.
Signs Of The Swarm and Snuffed On Sight were also on the bill. They both brought their high energy and put on a solid performance.
